The Employability Skills Checklist!
Before applying for your next job, mark off these skills from your checklist

1. Communication Skills
Your communication skills, both written and verbal, should be par excellence. Employers are looking for applicants with top-notch grammar, writing, presentation and public speaking skills. If you aren’t comfortable with English, you can always apply at conversational English coaching centres or register for online courses.
2. Computer Skills
Brush up on the rudimentary computer skills like word processing and working with Microsoft Office. Elementary HTML programming can also be beneficial on your resume.
3. Leadership & Management Skills
If you have experience supervising a sports team or an event in school, or overseeing a project, add it to your skills on the resume. Organisations always favour candidates who possess good leadership skills which will potentially help the team/project progress and grow.
4. Organisational Skills
Managing time and resources with dexterity is essential for most jobs. So it always helps if you’re a multitasker. For the smooth functioning of the job, you need to synchronise several difficult tasks with strict deadlines.
5. Critical Thinking/Problem-Solving Skills
In the course of a project, there could be several choices that one has to make or numerous paths that one can take in order to complete it. You should be able to consider all the factors and come up with the ideal solution.
6. A Lively Outlook/Self-Motivational Skills
Having a strong and optimistic viewpoint can raise the morale of your team/work environment and contribute to individual and group success. Constantly motivate yourself, and bring that energy to your next team meeting or interview.
A fine blend of the above skills does wonders for your resume and from a bird’s-eye view of things, for your career. If you need to brush up on these skills but don’t know where to start, there are a number of Massive Open Online Courses you can register with, such as edX, Coursera, Udacity, MIT OpenCourseWare and NovoEd.
